安卓的 GooglePlay 商店審核機制較對手寬鬆，潛藏的安全疑慮也多，部分用戶為了保護自己心愛的手機，會為設備加裝防毒軟體，甚至願意付費。很遺憾的，最近一個專門測試防毒產品的組織 AV Comparatives 稍早發布一份報告中顯示：約三分之二的安卓防毒 App 不但沒效，部分 App 還會把自己視為病毒。

檢測人員將安卓上 250 個防毒軟體做測試，在搭載 Andoird 8.0 Oreo 手機設備上加裝這些防毒軟體（部分使用 Android 6.01），並用這些設備下載去年最常見的 2,000 個帶有病毒的惡意軟體。
結果發現，有 30% 的安卓防毒軟體安全通過測試（零誤報），意味著其他 170 個並沒有他們宣傳的這麼有效；138 個防毒軟體只發現不到 30% 的常見病毒，有些防毒軟體在過去兩個月已經從 GooglePlay 中下架。
